Hatake yarns and mohair products honour the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. They are simple, earthy and unpretentious. The angora goats that produce the mohair fibre for hatake yarns browse on our 40 acre farm on Mayne Island, one of the Southern Gulf Islands situated halfway between Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. The farm was originally cleared and worked by one of the Japanese families who were resident on Mayne Island until their internment in 1942. To honour their history we have given the farm the Japanese name hatake which means 'farm.'
